Metcalfes Home Hardware is a traditional, family run Hardware and Ironmongery shop, located in the Hertfordshire town of Tring. Established in 1948 by Frederick William Metcalfe and his three sons Ronald, Robert and Peter, it was later taken over by Peter the youngest son, whose youngest son David now runs the business along with two partners Joanna Lace and Ruth Trimmer.

Having Hardware, Housewares, Cook Shop and Garden departments means there is a vast range of goods available to our customers, and this range, coupled with the service provided by our friendly and helpful staff makes shopping at ‘Metcalfe’s Home Hardware’ a more enjoyable and personal experience than shopping at one of the many out of town DIY superstores. Whether your purchasing a large amount, or just a few loose nails or screws, our staff offer the same cheerful and helpful service to all customers.

Ironmonger, garage, hire shop and more. As the oldest family business in Tring, we have been trading since 1750, and still offer the same personal experience. We have knowledge passed down through generations, and will be happy to help in any way we can.

Our company motto has remained the same from day one and the Roy Chapman logo continues to feature the key members of the original team. Our company and staff are keen to offer assistance and advice but, whilst being professional, we do not favour the pressure-selling techniques so often found within the motor industry. Instead, we wish to develop a relationship with our customers; long-term friendships based on trust and value for money, and we are deservedly proud of seeing the same customers return year after year, whilst warmly welcoming new faces.

As a long established printing firm we pride ourselves on the quality of our work which includes basic business cards to top quality 4 colour brochures, from October - December we are busy printing personalised Christmas cards for business and home use.
